Logitech’s beloved MX Master mouse gets a bold, button-packed redesign
Logitech MX Master 4: A Bold New Design

The Logitech MX Master 3's success has made it one of Logitech's most popular mice. Now, Logitech is building on that legacy with the MX Master 4. While Logitech G focuses on gaming, the MX Master series is designed for everyday users—students, professionals, and anyone seeking a more comfortable and ergonomic mouse experience.
The MX Master 4 largely maintains the design of its predecessor, but includes several key refinements. Whether these changes will resonate with users remains to be seen, but they appear to be thoughtful improvements aimed at enhancing usability.
Images of the Logitech MX Master 4, published by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and spotted by Notebookcheck and Guru3D, reveal these intriguing design updates.
A Closer Look at the Design Changes

The most noticeable changes are to the left and right click buttons and the thumb rest. The left and right click buttons are now significantly wider, extending across the entire width of the mouse. In contrast, the MX Master 3 features slightly narrower buttons with a small section of plastic separating them.
While the overall size of the thumb rest appears similar, the material and texture seem to have been altered. The grip material is now segmented, unlike the continuous wrap-around grip found on the MX Master 3. This segmented design may offer improved grip and comfort.
Another notable addition is a third button on the side of the mouse, located above the thumb rest. The MX Master 3 only has two buttons in this location; this new button adds further functionality.
The Mysterious Thumb Rest Button

The images also reveal a potentially new button on the thumb rest, appearing as a small circular cluster of dots. Its function is currently unknown. While it's possible this is not a button at all, or a purely aesthetic feature, it's unlikely Logitech would include such a detail without a purpose. Further information is needed to determine its functionality.
Other Subtle Changes and Speculation
Another design shift involves the relocation of the LED indicator light. On the MX Master 3, it was located on the left side near the side scroll wheel. The MX Master 4 moves this light to the top of the mouse, behind the DPI switch button.
While official specifications are unavailable, we can speculate on other potential improvements. Logitech may have enhanced the battery life, increased the DPI (dots per inch) for improved precision, and upgraded the mouse switches for enhanced durability and responsiveness. Cross-platform compatibility with both Windows and macOS is also expected.
The images offer a tantalizing glimpse of the Logitech MX Master 4. The combination of wider click buttons, a redesigned thumb rest, and a potential new button suggests a mouse designed for enhanced comfort, control, and productivity. The release date and pricing are yet to be announced, but anticipation is already high.
