Get GTA 6 Ultimate Edition on PS5 for Just $85 Using This Trick – Today Only

Looking for the best strategy to save money on the biggest video game release of the year? Securing a Grand Theft Auto 6 preorder deal by taking advantage of discounted PlayStation Store digital gift cards is currently the most effective way to lower your total cost before launch day arrives.

Update Oct 27, 1pm ET: Unfortunately, this deal has sold out. I will update this article if it comes back.

As a commerce editor at IGN, I have been continuously searching for the absolute best price reduction on Grand Theft Auto 6. Because no major retailer is offering direct price cuts on the standalone game, smart shoppers need a workaround. The best method discovered so far is purchasing discounted PlayStation or Xbox digital gift cards whenever they go on sale at major online retailers like Newegg.

Today only, retailer Newegg featured the absolute best promotional discount seen yet on a $100 PlayStation digital gift card. By applying the specific checkout promo code GTWF2793, buyers were able to take $15 off the retail price. That meant getting $100 worth of official PlayStation Store balance for just $85 out of pocket.

Saving $15 on a $100 gift card provides enough digital currency to purchase the Ultimate Edition of Grand Theft Auto 6 at a noticeable discount. Interestingly, market data shows that the Ultimate Edition is the exact version that most people are preordering ahead of launch.

How to Claim a Grand Theft Auto 6 Preorder Deal Using Digital Gift Cards

Promotional gift card savings are almost certainly the largest price reductions gamers will see on store credit leading up to the game's official November 19 launch. If you want to secure the top-tier edition of the game while spending less cash, monitoring these gift card sales is essential.

The entire redemption process for this digital card promotion is straightforward and fast. Once you purchase the discounted gift card on Newegg and ensure the checkout promo code is applied, the digital code is sent directly to your email address within an hour. During testing, the digital redemption code arrived in an email inbox just six minutes after placing the order.

After receiving your code via email, redeeming it on your account takes only a few simple steps. First, visit the official PlayStation Store website and make sure you are signed into your personal account. Next, click on your profile avatar located in the upper right corner of the screen to open the account dropdown menu.

From the dropdown menu options, select the item labeled Redeem Code. Paste your unique digital gift card code into the designated text box and confirm the redemption. The full $100 credit will instantly be added to your account wallet balance, ready to be spent on upcoming game purchases.

With the account funds safely credited to your profile, you can navigate directly to the store page for Grand Theft Auto 6. From there, you can choose between preordering the standard edition or opting for the feature-packed ultimate edition. Selecting your preferred version completes the entire preorder process.

Grand Theft Auto 6 Release Date, Pre-Load Info, and Physical Copy Details

While players cannot officially start playing the title until launch day on November 19, PlayStation 5 owners will have an opportunity to prepare their storage drives early. Players who buy digitally can pre-load it directly onto their PS5 console starting on November 12.

Starting the download on November 12 gives players a full week to complete the file installation before launch day. Pre-loading prevents potential delays caused by high network traffic on release day, ensuring immediate access the moment servers unlock on November 19.

For gamers who prefer buying physical game boxes, it is important to understand how physical distribution works for this release. Broadly speaking, retailer discounts on standard physical boxed copies are unlikely to appear anywhere prior to launch.

Furthermore, Grand Theft Auto 6 is distributed exclusively in digital format. Even if you elect to order a retail boxed version (see it at Amazon), the physical package contains only a digital download code inside the case. No physical game discs are being produced or printed for any platform.

Because physical retail packages contain only redeemable codes without discs, purchasing discounted store credit remains the most economical path. Utilizing promotional codes on PlayStation Store credit allows you to save real money on your digital purchase while receiving the exact same game files on day one.

Summary of the Best Strategy for GTA 6 Savings

Navigating major video game launches requires timing your purchases to maximize available promotions. Because direct price cuts on high-profile games are practically non-existent during launch windows, digital gift card deals bridge the gap for budget-conscious gamers.

By leveraging Newegg gift card promotions and applying targeted checkout discount codes, you effectively lower the total entry price for the year's biggest release. Taking advantage of these temporary store credit sales ensures you get maximum value out of your gaming budget.

If you want to secure your copy and maximize your savings, keep an eye out for recurring store credit promotions. Grabbing a discounted gift card guarantees you get the best possible Grand Theft Auto 6 preorder deal available anywhere online.
