HONOR Just Outslimmed Samsung and Everyone Else — Meet the Magic V5
HONOR Magic V5: Redefining Thin in Foldable Smartphones

HONOR has made a bold statement in the foldable phone market. While initially launched in China, the HONOR Magic V5 is quickly establishing itself as a major competitor to the anticipated Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and other premium foldable devices. Its claim to fame? It's incredibly thin. A global launch is planned for later.
Unveiling the HONOR Magic V5: The World's Thinnest Foldable?
HONOR's latest foldable boasts impressive slimness, surpassing even the OPPO Find N5, though only by a small margin. When unfolded, the HONOR Magic V5 measures a mere 156.8 x 145.9 x 4.1mm. Folded, its dimensions are 156.8 x 74.3 x 8.8mm. It's important to note a slight variation in thickness depending on the color option; some models are slightly thicker at 4.2mm unfolded and 9mm folded.
Variations in Weight and Thickness Across Models
The thinnest and lightest model features a vegan leather back (in White). The Black, Gold, and Reddish Brown variants, which have glass back panels, are marginally thicker and heavier. Keep in mind that color options and exact specifications may differ slightly in the global release.
The white vegan leather model weighs 217 grams, while other color options tip the scales at 222 grams. The device boasts IP58 and IP59 certifications, indicating dust and water resistance.
Powerful Performance and Fast Charging
Under the hood, the HONOR Magic V5 is powered by Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. This powerful processor is coupled with generous RAM options (12GB or 16GB) and substantial internal storage (256GB, 512GB, or 1TB). The global version is expected to offer a single RAM and storage configuration.
Fueling this powerful device is a large 5,820mAh silicon-carbon battery. Fast charging is a key feature, with support for 66W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
Stunning OLED Displays: Inside and Out
The HONOR Magic V5 features two impressive OLED displays. The main, foldable display is a spacious 7.95 inches with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate (LTPO technology). This ensures smooth scrolling and excellent power efficiency. The resolution is 2352 x 2172 pixels, and it boasts a peak brightness of 5,000 nits, ensuring readability even in bright sunlight. HONOR's Super Armored Inner Screen protection adds durability.
The cover display is a 6.43-inch LTPO OLED panel, also offering a peak brightness of 5,000 nits and a resolution of 2376 x 1060 pixels. This external screen is protected by HONOR's Anti-scratch NanoCrystal Shield.
A Triple-Camera Setup for Superior Photography
Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the HONOR Magic V5's triple-camera system on the rear. A 50-megapixel main camera with f/1.6 aperture and optical image stabilization (OIS) is complemented by a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera (f/2.0 aperture). A 64-megapixel periscope telephoto camera (f/2.5 aperture, OIS) adds versatile zoom capabilities. Two 20-megapixel selfie cameras are included, one on each display.
Pricing and Availability: A Look Ahead
The HONOR Magic V5 launched in China with a starting price of CNY 8,999 (approximately $1,256 USD). However, global pricing will likely vary significantly. While a precise global release date is not yet confirmed, a launch at IFA 2025 in Berlin is a strong possibility. Expect a global rollout within a few months of the initial China release.
